(Bras\u00edlia time) this Sunday (28\/02) from the Satish Dhawan Space Center (SHAR), in Sriharikota , in India. Amazonia 1 is the first Earth observation satellite completely designed, integrated, tested and operated by Brazil. Amazonia 1 will provide images for environmental and agricultural monitoring throughout Brazil with a high revisit rate. This satellite is also the first built using the Multimission Platform (PMM), an innovative structure developed by INPE, capable of adapting to the purposes of different missions and, thus, reducing the costs of space projects.<\/p><p>INPE, executor of the project coordinated by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovations (MCTI) in partnership with the Brazilian Space Agency (AEB), thanks everyone for following the development process of Amazonia 1, a Brazilian achievement that proves the innovative character of science and technology in the country. The Amazonia 1 satellite is a polar orbiting satellite that will generate images of the planet every 5 days. To achieve this, it has a wide-view optical imager (camera with 3 frequency bands in the visible spectrum \u2013 VIS \u2013 and 1 near-infrared band \u2013 Near Infrared) capable of observing a range of 850 km with 64 meters of resolution. Its orbit was designed to provide a high revisit rate (5 days), thus having the capacity to make a significant amount of data available from the same point on the planet.
